Read
The Haunting of Hill House
By Shirley Jackson
Summary: Eleanor Vance joins a psychic phenomena research group to study Hill House, an old mansion known to house mysterious evils in its closed rooms. To Eleanor, it’s a chance to escape her old life for a few weeks, to Hill House, it’s a chance to claim a new permanent resident.
My thoughts: Hill House is one of my all-time favorite books. This is my second reading, and I’m having great fun finding all of the clues and foreshadowing I missed the first time around.
My edition: Penguin Random House
Watch
The Wailing (2016)
Summary: Policeman Jong-goo investigates a series of murders, committed by people seemingly possessed by evil. Once his daughter falls ill with the same symptoms, he pursues a recent Japanese arrival, blaming him for her disease.
My thoughts: This movie is definitely worth watching and then watching again. See my full breakdown here:

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider
Summary: A few months after the events of Dishonored 2, Meagan Foster returns as our final Dishonored protagonist. Following shadows and deciphering clues — and picking a few pockets along the way — Meagan tracks the elusive Outsider, to end his occult influence once and for all.
My thoughts: I adore the Dishonored series. They could make side stories in this world forever, and I’d play every single one. Death of the Outsider is a strong final addition. If you like stealth games, you can’t miss Dishonored.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Summary: The third installment of The Witcher game trilogy follows Geralt on a quest to find his long-lost adoptive daughter, Ciri. Along the way, players can take monster contracts, hunt for treasures, and influence the stories unfolding around them.
My thoughts: I’m playing this game again for the umpteenth time because I love it and I haven’t fully experienced the next-gen updates. It’s gorgeous, the character animations are awesome, and I will never stop recommending this game!

The House in the Cerulean Sea
Summary: I’m on another podcast! This month, we discuss The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune, and we struggle not to say we have favorite children while clearly having favorite children.
My thoughts: I can’t claim not to be biased, but I think this episode is great. We had a lot of fun recording it and touch on some really interesting themes in the book.

Howl’s Moving Castle
By Diana Wynne Jones
Summary: In the fantastical land of Ingary, Sophie Hatter sees no future for herself outside of inheriting the family hat shop. As the oldest of three sisters, according to legend, she is the most likely to fail. Until a disastrous meeting with the Witch of the Waste changes Sophie’s trajectory completely.
My thoughts: I adore this story, and the audiobook version is at the top of my list for stress relief at bedtime. The narration is great: Jenny Sterlin really captures a large cast with different accents. And of course, the story is lovely and warm.
