Jury duty is exhausting
Hello! This piece was supposed to go out last week, but I was serving jury duty—which, it turns out, is mind-numbingly tiring. To my subscribers: thanks for your patience.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Remarkably Bright Creatures | Shelby Van Pelt
Tova Sullivan, a widow living in Sowell Bay, Washington, loves her job cleaning the local aquarium each night. She enjoys saying goodnight to all of the fish, eels, etc. but only Marcellus the Giant Pacific octopus seems to say it back.
I really recommend this one. It's a slow burn, and it doesn't reach the exciting heights I built up in my imagination, but I recommend it for anyone who likes hometown stories told from a unique perspective.
Watch
⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Ghost Story for Christmas | BBC
A collection of short (30-50 minutes) horror stories, filmed for British television in the 1970s. It features tales from M. R. James, Charles Dickens, and others.
It's a nice way to wrap up an evening, even if I do think it's cheap and cheesy.
⭐⭐The Ice House
A man convalesces in a country-home-turned-spa, and the sibling owners take a special interest in seeing to his comfort…personally.
One of the odder stories in the collection, this one is genuinely creepy, but the ending is inscrutable.
⭐⭐⭐⭐Grey’s Anatomy | ABC
Follow the dramatic life of surgical intern Meredith Grey, and the other interns and doctors living and dying, laughing and crying in Seattle Grace Hospital.
I'm out of my binge phase with this show, but it's a great option to have on the back burner.
⭐⭐⭐A Man in Full | Netflix
Charlie Croker has everything—including over $1 billion in debt. When the bank calls in his loan, he’ll do anything it takes to avoid the embarrassment of bankruptcy.
I’m a bit over halfway through this series, and so far, it's fine. Some moments are good, and some are weak. I can't recommend it yet, but I could see some people liking it.
⭐⭐⭐⭐Tour de France: Unchained | Netflix
A documentary series following a handful of teams in the 2023 Tour de France, featuring interviews with riders, managers, and cycling experts.
I've known the barest basics about the Tour de France for years, but this documentary series reveals a whole different side to cycling’s most famous event. In my opinion, it's more interesting than just watching the raw race footage.
Alone, season 11 | History
Follow contestants as they try to survive, completely alone, for as long as they can, in the most brutal wildernesses on Earth.
Alone is back! This time, the adventurous lunatics are over one hundred miles within the Arctic circle. There is a tap-out already in episode 1.
Play
Kingdom Come: Deliverance | Warhorse Studios
Play as Henry, a blacksmith’s son seeking adventure and glory in 15th century Bohemia. Hunt wildlife, pick herbs, fight bandits, and earn your honor in this 2018 adventure RPG.
I'm continuing to enjoy my restart playthrough. It's nice to retry things and take do-overs where I can.
